Itching, biting, and bruising!?

About a month ago i moved to what was once a basement. It was nice and big-had been converted into a downstairs family room. I thought it was perfect for my dog and i! WRONG! About four days later the guy i was seeing, my dog and i started itching like crazy! It's been about three weeks now and i've only gotten worse. I have sleepless nights, if i can get some sleep i wake myself up itching. Sometimes i'll brake out in hives on my hands just a little. I have an occasionally big bump here and there randomly on my body that itches. The itching is everywhere, my legs, ankles, hands, fingers, arms, neck, chest, buttox, stomach, just everywhere-except for my face but sometimes my nostril itches or my eye. As of right now i have about 10 red dots/very small bumps that are pretty close together on my back thigh, bruising all over my legs (patches going down my leg - random bruising) and a big bump on the side of my stomach and itching that won't stop. When i scratch an itch, the itch gets worse or goes away and then comes right back. Basically, it's an itch that cannot be scratched. The itching never goes away but is worse at night when i try to sleep and when i am in the shower. The hot water makes it worse! I try to take cooler showers and that seems to help a little. I feel that as if i am losing my mind. I am sleep deprived and exhausted from itching. You can't say i am delusional because i am not the only person that has been experiencing this. The guy i was seeing (won't come around much anymore!), a few of my friends, my mother and of course my dog have all itched when they came into my room. The guy i was seeing even experienced bruising and still itches till this day. I have gone to the doctor and they ruled out scabies, contact dermititis and allergies. As of right now i am on steroids to reduce inflammation, it's helping somewhat but it is not going to solve my problem. Once i run out of the medication i'll be back to square one. I have washed my clothes and bedding over and over with no luck. Once i put my clothes on or wrap up in my blanket i ITCH and feel biting and crawling. I use hot water and soap!!!! I have been using the same laundry detergent for years, same hand soap, shampoo, body soap-i do NOT have allergies! I even switched to an organic soap to see if that would help-well it didn't.
I don't have dry skin . . .  I have been using Dermasil just in case and nope, that doesn't help.
I was prescribed Benedryl . . . That didn't help either.
Unfortunately i do not have insurance, but i am have filled out a packet for financial assistance at the Oregon Health and Science Univirsity. So, hopefully i will be seeing the dermatologist soon! I have done so much research and can't really pin point what is going on. I have read about bird mites, rat mites, cat mites, and dog mites and nothing really seems to match exactly what i am experiencing. Although, the cat mites come very close-but so does the rat mites. The reason i researched all of that is because the owner of the house (who doesn't live here) has 15 cats, and used their house vaccum in my room before i moved. 15 cats living in one house is a breeding ground for diseases! And there WAS rats in my room at one point in time because it was a basement. A week after living here, the owner put down rat poison and what do ya know, there's a smell of death coming from my walk in closet that has a crawlspace! And that crawlspace was open when i moved in! I had to ask the owner to bolt it shut! I don't know exactly what is going on, i am scared that when i do see the dermatologist, they're not going to find anything and tell me i'm crazy. I can't live like this. Does anyone have some answers or is going through this or has gone through this? No, i'm not delusional . . .  I was a happy go lucky 23 year old 3 weeks ago and my dog was a happy non-itching, biting and scratching dog too!

Thanks! That was very nice of you to do!
I still haven't figured out what it is. With scabies, ringworm, mange and other mites you can wash out in the washing machine with hot water and soap but for some reason it seems like i cannot get whatever this is out. I have purchased Borax and Hydren Peroxide and added it in but still the same result. I even did the whole Borax bath with myself and my dog, which seemed to help until i brought in the sheets after the wash, then my dog and i started itching really bad again when we laid on the bed. I had purchased a blow up mattress for now, so i know it can't be the bed. I am at a loss for words. I don't know what this could possibly be... Sounds crazy, i know, i don't know.

Hi again, was at my  cats vet today and ask the doctor about your problem and he said it might be scabies, ringworm or mange.

Hi and sorry your going through this. I would point to the cats for sure. What about fleas? Sometimes we can have a allergic to the bite also cat dander can cause irritations and once you scratch a irritated area the dander gets under the skin and the itching continues much as you described. Some people can really be allergic to dander, it is a very big time skin irritant.
Its very hard to get rid of dander as is flakey shin particles that are everywhere and vaccuming wont get rid of all of it. Im sure that with 15 cats living there, the dander is all over the place, and i mean everywhere.I have 2 cats and keeping up with the dander is a constant process.
Google cat dander.
