Lump on Scalp

For at least a year and a half, maybe longer, I have had a pea-sized lump on my scalp on the back (right side) of my head, near the top. It doesn't hurt  or itch, and it is the same color as my scalp. It does not poke through the hair; in fact, you can only feel it if you move all the hair around it and rub your finger over it. But right where it is, I have a bald spot. I had always thought it was some kind of scar, but I'm a little worried. What could it be?

A pimple or ingrown hair perhaps? We get them there same as everywhere else, probably more so, due to oil on the scalp. If not that, could be a mole or a lump of skin (harmless). I would have it looked at when you go into the doctor if you can't determine what it is. Better to be safe...

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
It can be a pilar cyst. It is a benign cyst on the head and neck which is mostly painless but can become painful when infected. Treatment includes topical and oral antibiotics and surgical incision and drainage.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
