What Causes Small Hives on the Lip?

My lips were fine the day before, however, the next morning, my lips felt different and I noticed that there were little swollen bumps on my top lip. They are not itchy or painful. I have seasonal allergies but I have no other known allergies. What could cause these little bumps?

Have you recently changed lip balms/lipsticks? Toothpaste? Anything you eat or drink? Even things you eat or drink all the time can change something in how they are made - think "new and improved flavor" - and you are allergic to something in it.

They could also be Fordyce spots - https://www.healthline.com/health/fordyce-spots These are enlarged oil glands, and it's normal. If that's what you think they are, don't pick at them or try to pop them. That will leave scars and could cause infection.

If you don't think any of this fits, see your doctor before trying to treat it with anything.
