Nail coming off from cuticle after acute paronychia

My 6 year old daughter had an infection near her cuticle on her thumb which I believe was paronychia.  The tested the pus and it was a strep a infection.  She was prescribed amoxicillin for 10 days.

Her thumb nail has separated from the cuticle area and now about half of the nail is missing and there is only nail bed. Nothing seems to be growing in at the cuticle and it has been a month since the infection.

She has another appointment with a dermatologist, but I am concerned that the nail has not begun to grow back even though the infection is long gone.
