Rash that travels 2

I posted this question 3 nights ago, and thought I would receive an answer from a Dermatology MD, and maybe some comments from people who have experienced a similar rash. But so far I have not received any response to my posting at all.

Here is my question again:

"I have had a rash for about 10 days that originated with a small bump on the left side above the chest and has since enlarged and moved up to my neck. I generally need a lot of sleep and am more tired, but have otherwise no symptoms of illness.

I had the same kind of rash 33 years ago, when it was treated for 6 weeks unsuccessfully with antibiotics, and climaxed by moving up my neck and eventually paralyzing the left side of my face, so that I could ingest my food only by slurping on the right side of my mouth. At that time, I started taking Aspirin, and the rash went away within a day or two.
The rash was never diagnosed.

This time I started treating it with Aspirin for 2 days, but it didn'thelp. I have since switched to Oil of Oregano which has kept it in check for a while, but now it is creeping up my neck again. It kind of comes in waves. After feeling the inflammation and itch intensely, both go away again, and the rash seems to reduce in size, only to come back again.
It is worse at night, and lets off during the day.

If cause is external, I probably got it somewhere in the wood, as I go hiking and climbing frequently, and also become a prey of the chiggers every June.

Any suggestions as to what it is, and how to treat?

Thank you"

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Dear Dr. Kaur,

thank you very much for your very helpful comments.
Since July 1, I have been in the care of an infectious disease doctor, and the condition has now been diagnosed as Lyme Disease. I have responded well to the antibiotics, which I am continue to take. I had developed Bell's Palsy, before we started the Lyme Disease antibiotics, and that is still with me, but has gotten better as I have had facial and neck massages the last 3 days. The original rash is gone.
I have another meeting with my doctor tomorrow, and will raise the question of hives.

Thanks again

One possibility for such a rash that travels is of hives. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours.

It is essential to rule out the presence of serious illnesses of which recurring hives can be a symptom. Examples are hepatitis, hyperthyroidism, lymphomas, collagen vascular diseases, and cancers of the rectum, kidneys and gastrointestinal tract.

I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
