Red bump on hands

I get these little red bumps on my hands and fingers every once in a while. They are never clustered, I  may get one on and hand or finger and then next week get another one on the other hand or finger. They hurt when touched. They usually disappear after a week or so. What could this be? Thanks!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
These red bumps can be due to contact dermatitis, pompholyx( if itchy) or herpetic whitlow. Herpetic whitlow is a painful viral infection occurring on the fingers or around the fingernails and is caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus (HSV). My sincere advice would be to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
