Red patch on cupids bow of upper lip

I have had a red bump on my cupids bow of my upper lip now for about a week now. I found it hard and painful on monday and it has slowly flattened out and become less painful as the week has gone on.

As of saturday, there is no bump and the entire area is smooth and soft to the touch. The area still sports a large red patch though.

I have been seeing a girl and am worried about it being HSV1 but other than the red bump i haven't seen to many other symptoms of a cold sore.

I noticed little white dots deep in inside the red bump but they seem more similar to the other white dots lining my lip outside of the red patch. These white spots have yet to grow, move or come to the surface. I have had slight tingling here and there but nothing continuous and usually only after I've touched it.

I've had no burning or painful sensations, other than when I touched it or pinched it, no blisters, no scabbing.

Is it possible that pinching my lip by accident may have pissed it off and set it off? I tried popping the bump to see if it was a pimple but to no avail and probably greatly irritated my lip in the process.

What would be your take on this? Thank you for any answers.
