Reddish/purple behind the nostrils

I have, in a half circle on each side of the nose where the nostrils connect to the face, a reddish/purple area that I have had for a long time and cannot explain. There is also a (slighter and less troublesome but visible) white line that runs down where there is wrinkle when people smile.

Do you have any idea what this could be? I have attached a picture that better explains and focuses on teh region.
