Scabies or just irritated?

I was recently diagnosed with scabies??? I have no bites, no rash, just irritated around my piubic area, I am not even very itchy, just mildly itchy here and there, I did the whole permetherin thing...My question is can ypou have scabies for a week and a half and have no outside signs, I know there is an incubation type period, but I had this irritation for about a week and a half and I am prone to itchy or chaffed genital areas, especially when the seasons change or I sweat or do not rinse well...I just completely cleaned my house office clothes etc...any second opinion would be nice before I go crazy..Thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Scabies is highly contagious and a very itchy disease. From the symptoms it can be sweat dermatitis as well. The main treatment for sweat dermatitis is prevention. The best thing to consider is to prevent that portion of the body from sweating like by wearing light and cotton clothes, taking cool refreshing baths, maintaining the temperature in your homes and cars and avoiding strenuous activities.

If however sweat dermatitis occurs, then apply mild corticosteroid creams like dermacort or hydrocortisone or calamine lotion on the rashes.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

I once saw a dermatologist who diagnosed me with scabies...and she didn't even look at me.
I walked in the door with my mom ( I was 12 ) and she started yelling and screaming, " Scabies! Scabies! I know it's scabies!" She then told us to get out.
The nurse apologized to us and suggested we see another doctor. lol
Turns out that it was a combination of eczema and dry skin.

Do you have these symptoms:
Itching, especially at night

Rashes, especially between the fingers

Sores (abrasions) on the skin from scratching and digging

Thin, pencil-mark lines on the skin

If not, I suggest seeing another doctor...as those are the symptoms of scabies.
Sounds more like you have "jock itch" than scabies.
