Scalp Biopsy

I am hoping someone can offer some input on a recent scalp biopsy I had.

"There is a perifollicular inflammatroy cell infiltrate of lymphocytes adn histiocytes surrounding infundibula of follicles in which there is hypergranulosis.  In addition, there is perifollicular fibroplasia."

Can anyone tell me what that means in plain english? My dermatologist wants me to go on Plaqunil (sp?) and I am looking for a more natural treatment as the side effects of that drug are potentially serious.

Thank you in advance for anyone that can help.

In general, hydroxychloroquine and mepacrine are safe, well-tolerated drugs and adverse effects are relatively few, the most widely recognized being retinal toxicity.16 #  Cruz DD. Antimalarial therapy: a panacea for mild lupus. Lupus 2001; 10: 148–51.[Abstract/Free Full Text]

What you have,Discoid lupus erythematosis is a minor variant as compared with the other more serious lupus erythematosis. This DLE is a disease when our body reacts to itself called an autoimmune disease.Drugs like plaquenil stop this process.Truly it is an antimalarial but then works here too.It is quite safe if you get eyes tested to rule out a rare chance of optic neuritis.
