Severe pain with the shingles

Greetings, I got diagnosed with the shingles. Almost a month later, I still have an intense pain on the area with the rash. The pain as unbearable. Blisters have popped and crusted mostly. The doctor prescribed Acyclovir pills on the first visit. Also, gave me two ointments, Fucidin and Zovirax. On the second visit he gave me Lignopanthen, Lyrica and a nerve tonic. I told him about the intense pain. Anyway, the pain still persists. I am really worried about PHN that I read about. Also, I just want to make sure I was diagnosed right. So here are some photos I took at 10 ten days and today at 27 days.

Age factor, and persisting pain does indicate PHN. Sometimes simple analgesics help, in others opiate analgesics.Takes time, and recovery slow.

Thanks for the reply. Whats the period of recovery? How long will it take? I have read it takes months or years and I cannot bear this pain. Thanks.

In a couple of weeks, it should but then your doc might prescribe you more potent analgesics.Do check in.

its post herpetic neuralgia, the severity of the pain, and the length of recovery depends on how severe and extensive the initial shingles outbreaks was. it could be week,s to months to years before recovery. there is also permanent hypersensitivity, numbness, and random jolts of pain

simple analgesics do not really work against nerve pains, you need something like stronger painkillers.
