I also have this condition. From what I understand there is no cure. Stress is a factor they say. I would like to know if any of you have lumps on skull as well. I have one like 3 in long. And another one beside it. I have been diagnosed with these but wondered if this scalp pain can go hand in hand with this..

Have you seen a dermatologist?  It may be nothing serious at all.

I have a variety of skin issues...one is similar to what you describe.

Often it follows a period of pulling my hair up with clamp...

I think some of us have sensitive skin...that includes the scalp.

But the one to ask about all this is a dermatologist.

Trichodynia (Ponytail syndrome) is an anxiety state.Iron deficiency need to be corrected too.
