Cause for rash on calves?

Since September of 2011 I have been getting a rash on my lower calves and recently also on my forearms. It looks similar to reddish-purple spots (petechiae). It does not itch or hurt just looks bad. What is causing it?

Hello and welcome to the forum. Thank you for the question but we're sorry you are having this problem.  There are different potential causes for a rash that doesn't itch.  You should see a dermatologist for evaluation and to get guidance for how to get rid of this.  The possible things it could be includes irritant contact dermatitis.  Are you using any detergents that are new?  Anything you can think of that would be in contact with your calves and lower arms only. Have you started taking any new medications?  A drug rash is a non itch eruption on the skin.  Intertrigo is from friction.  Socks causing an issue?  Something else to check out is dermato fibroma.  It happens mostly to women and on the lower legs.  https://www.drugs.com/health-guide/dermatofibroma.html  Let us know what your doctor says.
