Small bumps on penis and scrotum

hi, i have had these bumps on my penis and scrotum for over a year now, the look like skin coloured, 2mm (or smaller) bumps, which dont hurt, dont bleed dont itch or anything like that...

there are quite a few of them, mainly towards the base of my penis, more on the bootom and sides then the top (they seem pretty random)

i did see my doctor and he said that this is a comman thing and it will eventually go away...

now its been well over a year and im wondering is there some sort of cream or something i can get to get it to go away, as said there is no pain or anything like that, but it looks a bit odd...

any information will be a great help, btw im unable to recall what the doctor said it was

Hello,
As you have mentioned that a hair is sticking out of them ,so it sounds more like folliculitis. Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles. It starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing or blockage of the follicle. In most cases of folliculitis and boil, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph).
Pls keep the area clean and apply some topical antiseptics. Also wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. Topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment are also useful. In case the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.

Hi,

The bumps could be pearly penile papules (PPP) or fordyce spots, bot natural and benign causes. PPP is harmless  and presents with papules appearing  as one or several rows of small, flesh-colored bumps situated circumferentialy around the  glans penis. It may persist throughout life and may become less noticeable with increased age.It requires no treatment. On the other hand, fordyce spots are small bright red or purple papules that can appear on the glans, shaft or scrotum and usually affect younger men. Although a number of approaches have been tried, there is no simple, reliable treatment to remove them. Troublesome bleeding spots can be sealed with electrocautery.

Take care and regards.

Hello,
Without external examination it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but the various possibilities for your symptoms are folliculitis, pearly penile papules, Fordyce spots, sweat dermatitis, contact dermatitis, genital warts or balanitis(due to an underlying infection (bacterial and fungal as well as other organisms).

You may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or calamine lotion or a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash. If the bumps are itchy, you  can take some antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin.

If the lumps persist then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.

Hope it helps.take care and pls do keep me posted.
