Sudden itchy bumps on 4 yo

It started two days ago when I noticed a few bumps on my child’s thigh. Thought nothing of it. Then last night suddenly she was itching herself and told me to help her. Then her arms and legs were covered in itchy bumps.
They’re not the chicken pox. And they don’t look like hives. They’re red, bumpy and itch. They remind me of pimples in size. The ones she hasn’t itched are a bit shiny but they aren’t full of any liquid.
It’s been over 24 hours since she started itching and they haven’t subsided. The itching seems tolerable but she does say she want me to take her to the doctor to remove them. From how her personality is that tells me they’re uncomfortable, probably itching all the time.

Any clue as to what they could be? I wish I could share an image.

How's she doing today?  Is she still having any itching?  Do you think they could be bug bites?
