Tiny Bumps On Penis Head

Hi, I am a 22 year old white male and circumcised.  I am also a virgin.  Recently I noticed a very rough, bumpy texture on my penis head (glans).  The bumps are dispersed everywhere on the head but appear to be more densely concentrated  at the top of the head lining the bottom portion (away from the meatus, in other words).  I could almost call them "scales."  They definitely have a bumpy texture.  The underside of the glans is much smoother and more "normal" looking and feeling.  The bumps are visible whether my penis is flaccid or erect, and I can find no pictures on the internet, after searching high and low, of anything similar to what I have.

They are not pearly penile papules.  The bumps on my penis are flesh colored and ON the head itself, essentially comprising the very texture of the skin.  Imagine the texture on the torso of this iguana:

An imperfect analogy, to be sure, but it's the closest I can come to describing the texture of my glans.  Even though the bumps are tiny individually, they visibly rise from the surface of the glans and densely concentrated are very noticeable. If I stretch the skin, I can see them more distinctly.

If it helps your response, I also have eczema and keratosis pilaris.  I have been using a selenium sulfide shampoo for the eczema along with washing with an anti-eczema soap (ZNP Bar).  I take a Vitamin A supplement for the keratosis pilaris.

I am not sure what's causing this.  Is it due to environmental factors (chafing against clothes?), an allergy, a fungus or what.  I always recall the skin on my penis head being somewhat "creased" but not bumpy.  I really only noticed this recently, but it may have been this way for a while (2-3 years perhaps) as I normally have no real reason to closely examine my penis.

This does not hurt or itch.  The only distress this causes me is that it does NOT look normal.  So any responses as to what this is and how I can treat it/ get rid of it are welcome.  Thank you.

Hi.

You have mentioned that the area is creased or coarse .They are not particularly scales but the area is skin colored . In the absence of a significant sexual history, I would like to rule out skin colored bumps such as genital warts and molluscum. At this point, you have not associated these bumps with any itchiness, pain or discolorations. With a history of eczema and keratosis pilaris, this skin condition may be a form of irritant dermatitis or xerotic dermatitis. Xerotic dermatitis is caused by dryness of the area. This may be due to frequent contact with certain irritants such as creams and lotions applied in the area.

This has been present for quite sometime. I do not think this is something you have to be very concerned with. Applying any creams and lotions at this point may only aggravate the condition. However, if this is a case of dryness ,you may use a light vitamin E cream to keep the area moisturized

Dr. Lacuesta, thank you for your response.  In regard to creams and lotions, I pretty much never apply any to my penis.

I will keep the vitamin E in mind.

I took two photos earlier today in the hope that it might be able to help your diagnosis.  Please let me know if you have any problems viewing these images.

Is there any way I can send the pictures to a doctor on this site?  I added them in a post which used to be here, but the post was removed without notice.

I know the docs on this board are extremely busy and trying to get around to answering everyone's questions, but if a doc could look at the photos and give me feedback I would be extremely appreciative.

Just tell me where to send them or attach them.  I should have taken some prior to my original post so that I could have attached them here, but I didn't, and I don't want to make a new thread, which would clog up the board.

THANK YOU for providing this wonderful free-to-users service.

I have this as well. I believe this is a normal thing. As long as it is not a type of infection or something dangerous I think we can live with it. I hope yours is not that worse.
