What causes wrinkled finger tips all the time?

I am a 27 yr old female and i have noticed that the skin on my fingertips is wrinkled all the time(like i just got out of the bath).  I noticed it several weeks age.  I don't think i am dehydrated.  I put lotion on everynight and have for many years.  What could be causing them to stay wrinkled?

I have taken Doxycycline. I think my fingers changed in appearance about 1-2 mo. later.

I'm anxious to hear what you've learned.

Wow Mr. MD, dyshidrotic eczema, looked nothing like what many described in this thread. Thanks for nothing.

Mine went away on it's own. It was either hypothyroidism or psych med withdrawal. I'm 5 years off psych meds (SSRI's and Lamictal) and my thyroid has been back to normal for about 2 years now.

The wrinkled fingers happen maybe once every 6 months now and I just ignore it, it only lasts a few hours at most.

The problem with your finger tips that you are describing is called dyshidrotic eczema.  Look it up if you don't believe me (an M.D.) and your doctor.

Dehydration.
Drink at least 4 tall glasses of water a day for 1 week faithfully.
It won't cost you a cent and I bet it makes a difference.

Oh, I'm 'feeling' everyone on here and it is somewhat of a comfort to know others are having these symptoms too, but such a shame that many haven't been able to work out what it's all from.
I wish someone would come up with a more helpful solution or some sort of insight as to what this could be =(

I am a 25 year old Female,I drink water, non smoker, non drinker, Pre-diabetic/Insulin resistant (on Diaformin 500mg) my biggest problem would be that I am overweight and have been for sometime also there is a big possibility that I have CFS, hence why it's hard for me to lose the weight when I'm always so fatigued.

I believe mine started about two months ago and it started on my index finger left hand first- creasing, pruning and sometimes dry skin on the tip of the finger. Now I've noticed it on my middle finger right hand which is weird to me.I do have sweaty palms and have for many years but this hasn't been a problem before in regards to pruning of fingertips.
I too am concerned as to what this could be and if it's anything to worry about.

I have told my doctor and at the time I was suffering from suspected RSI and I do type on the computer/text a lot which probably doesn't help. As we were discussing this I happened to mention about the sudden appearance of the creasing/pruning that was bothering me on my index finger. I usually have my thyroid checked and had so far been okay, but hadn't checked it since this problem happened.

He suspected Thyroid issues straight away and I had a bloodtest a couple of weeks ago. I'm yet to make an appt with my doctor for the results (as I have been stressed and fatigued) and am only comforted by the fact that the receptionists would've rang had it been serious.

I suffer from severe depression and anxiety which causes OCD panic thought patterns, so having these symptoms do not help. I've been on zoloft 100mg for many years now and doubt this is something that has triggered or caused this to happen.

I also have the problem with my fingertips.

The tips of my fingers feel as if I've just gotten out of the bath, even though they don't LOOK that way.  I first noticed it a couple of months ago, because my fingertips felt funny.

I'm not dehydrated (I drink water all day long), and whether or not I have had my hands in water makes no difference.  My thyroid has been tested and the doctors say it's normal.  I'm 42 and not a recent mother.

My fingers don't hurt or crack, although I have also had another problem with my hands that I'm not sure is related:  the spaces between my fingers has become calloused, and this has been going on for almost a year.  It's on both hands, and only between my first/middle fingers and ring/little fingers (not between my thumb/first fingers or middle/ring fingers).

Both issues happened suddenly and are really bothering me because they did come on so suddenly, with apparently no cause.
