What is the best alternative to using Retin-A?

I am not wishing to use Retin A (prescription strength) on my face.  I have never been a sun baker, have always used sunscreen, good skin care since my teens, and have no melasma whatsoever.  I’ve never had acne in my life.   However, I’d like to get a similar benefit going forward from my age now (almost 43) to increase cell turnover and keep my skin as good as possible.   As of now my skin is even toned and still nicely plumped, but I know that won’t last, so what is the best I can do for my skin other than Retin A?

Thank you for any suggestions in advance,
