bump on shaft

hello i am a 15 year old male and not sexually active. about 2 months ago i woke one morning and notice a bump on my shaft. it was big and red and i popped it. after a week in shrunk and was really red any more. i was to scared to tell any one because i only live with my mom(and that would be very a very akward talk) so a 2 months go by and it has really changed much. it is hard under the skin like a little ball like shape and has an opening on top of it. well just recently i put i warm cloth on it so it would open the pores and i took tweezers and pulled some hard white stuff out then put peroxide on it and bandaged it. it had a lot of secrection that is gone now.it shrank a lot and now and i have continually put peroxide on it and it is not shrinking any more i would like to know what it is and if i could get rid of it myself without going to the doctors. thank you so much for your time. please respond

Hello,
Warm compresses will help in suppressing the symptoms, but if you want it to be completely gone, then you should get it removed. In my earlier post ,I have mentioned about the various methods for removal of the sebaceous cyst.Pls consult a dermatologist and discuss these options with him.

I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

i have only been putting a warm clothe on it in the shower(so once a day) and im am only seeing a small result, but still a result. should i be doing this more than once a day. and i have read up on it today and i am hear many people say that the only way to the cyst removed for good is surgery. is that true? also it swelled up and was sore for week, so i assume it got infected, but now is fine is that bad?

Hello,

By warm compresses I mean that you take some warm water and dip a small towel in it and then apply it on the cyst.It may help. But if the cyst persists then pls don’t mess with it and if there is any other symptom as described earlier then pls consult a dermatologist.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hello,

One possibility that needs evaluation is sebaceous cyst. Sebaceous cyst is a closed sac or cyst below the surface of the skin and fills with a fatty white, semi-solid material called sebum produced by sebaceous glands of the epidermis. It is usually painless but can become painful if infected.
If painless apply warm compresses on the lump.Generally no treatment is required but if they become painful then it means they are infected,Then surgical excision by traditional wide excision, minimal excision, and punch biopsy excision may be required.

Hope it helps .Take care and pls do keep us posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
