Hi Doctor,

I had unprotected sex with my g/f about 10 weeks back thereafter all protected encounters (about 5-6 times) and after 4-5 weeks, my penis tip became a bit reddish and foreskin was not retracting properly with white/creamy color discharge coming out of it.
The next time we had sex together, the penis was swollen and the foreskin couln't be retracted at all. I had to see a urologist and he recommended some tests for culture and gram stain. He asked me to use doxycycline 2 tabs a day for a week. The problem was over after that. Again after another week the problem reappeared.
Now the foreskin has become so tight that retracting it is quite painful. The reddishness is still there with white/creamy discharge. I am really worried what it can be and quite scared as well if it is treatable. Could you please comment.

Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but the symptoms are suggestive of balanoposthitis.
Oral course of antibiotics is needed. In addition, please don’t use any cosmetics on the penis, instead use some topical antimicrobials like Bacitracin or Lotrimin. Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then please consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation and antimicrobials and steroids prescription.
Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Warm regards.
