redness on penis tip/urethra

I accidentally posted this in the community forum,  here it is for you,

Dear Doctor,

I posted a question a few months ago regarding rash and abdominal pain entitled "stupid night in shanghai".  Dr HHH. helped me out a bunch and I went to see a doctor regarding the pain. I saw a GP and an internal medicine Dr.  Even got a CT scan which came out fine.   While in the office i showed the GP the rash on my penis.   She thought it looked like irritation from work ( I work in a very hot environment) and suggested I get some A and D lotion.  It did little.  However,  shortly after I started to learn about bacterial infections that could cause the rash and I applied some Nystatin that my wife had.  Her gyno gave her this for yeast infection during same time I had rash. I assume she has not had any recurrence.  The rash  started to go away and was gone in one week.  However,  the other day I noticed a slight redness at the tip of my penis.  No discharge, no scabbing, no flaking.  I applied the A and D thinking it was abrasion or reaction to lube or from rubbing penis hard against bed with erection while sleeping. (that's how I first noticed) It has done little.  I did try the Nystatin but not for long.  I am worried about this and put way too many lotions on my penis and now am afraid I have made it (penis) and me too hypersensitive.  It is basically just a slight discoloration.  Does not hurt to urinate.  I may be going to the bathroom  little more than normal but i drink more than a gallon day of water.
The rash seems to be going away, but I am still concerned.  Can you offer any advise?  Should I see if it gets worse?  I am concerned that it could be some latent gonorrhea or herpes , even though I was told by HHH and my GP that it did not fit the symptoms.

Thank you kindly.

Thanks for the information.  I did what you suggested and the redness is almost completely gone.  However,  occasionally I feel like there is a slight sting or discomfort at the tip.  I am wearing softer underwear today so it is much less sensitive.  But occasionally I fell as if there is a sting or that I need to "push something out".  There is no flow problem and I am not getting discharge at all nor any other obvious symptoms.   No pain with erection or ejaculation.

Any help is much appreciated.

Based on your post, it seems you only have a slight redness “at the tip of penis” and no other symptoms or physical findings. It is most likely that your concerns about having latent STD’s are unfounded, but I will try to help you fight doubts.

In this sort of situation, random topical therapy is not really helpful. In order to see actual clinical features, it is recommended to stop with applying any topical medication for 7-10 days. Also, try to remove all other potential triggers (abrasion, sweating, tight underwear and clothes, etc.).

If objective skin/mucosal changes and/or subjective symptoms do appear within 10 days of new regimen (no therapy and measures for irritation prevention), you should see a dermatologist. If not, it is time to relax, and give up doubts and concerns about STDs.
