scalp problem

I have developed raised rashes on my scalp that are NOT red, they are the SAME color as my scalp.
They are slightly itchy, with what almost looks like ingrown hair.
I thought it might be seborrhea.  Never had a scalp condition before in my life!
I have used Head & Shoulders Intensive Treatment, with H&S conditioner for two weeks.
The area cleared up somewhat at first, but the small bump areas keep coming back.
Therefore, I don't know what this is.
I feel like I have the "CREEPING CRUD."
Can you help someone without insurance to perhaps try and treat this first?
(without a doctor's visit?).
Thank you, and God bless!

Hello,

I cannot confirm anything without examination, but it can be due to Acne keloidalis nuchae. Treatment of AKN includes suppression of the inflammation with antibiotics and steroid gels or intralesional steroid injections. So apply antibiotic cream like Neosporin or bactroban. If the symptoms persist then oral antibiotics and steroids may be needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.

Larger bumps of AKN present for a while or if not responding to treatments may need surgical removal.

I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.

Hi,

I posted a comment today related to something very similar you have.  I have had this for over three years and can't seem to get rid of it.  I truly am at wits end.  I have tried many different products from shampoo's to perscription medicine and to no avail nothing has helped.  There is no patter to where my bumps are they are in random spots and move around my head more recently one has moved to the inside of my nose!  I feel you pain about the creeping crud!  I feel gross.  If I do find anything that works I will definitely let you know.  The best product I have found is Head & Shoulders Phsoysis treatment shampoo.  But I think it makes my hair stink.  It does keep the crud down though most of the day.  Good luck.

Kind Regards
