Nerve pain...

Hello everyone. I am writing on behalf of my mother. She is 55 and suffers from diabetes. I am not sure which type she has but lately she has been having a pain down her right leg (from the buttock area all the way down) She says she feels like the area gets hot and feels tingling and after being in her feet for a ling time she feels a numb sensation, sometimes pressure. She has already had a doppler to check for blood clots and that came back fine. She saw a foot doctor and found out she has arthritis on the top part of her foot but it's not severe or enough to be causing thag type of pain. She has had shots, meds and inserts for the pain and nothing seems to help. The pain just doesn't go away and seems to get worse as the day progresses. I feel bad that I can't help her and her doctors have not figured out what is wrong. This has been going on for two months now. I recently saw a commercial on tv about diabetes nerve pain and was wondering if her symptoms sound like that could possibly be it? If so what meds or procedures have you had to help? Please any advice is greatly appreciated.

This pain syndrome is typical of sciatica. If she has had "shots" I suspect her physician knows this. Obtain a medical release to  speak directly with her physician.  Generally physical therapy  and special exercises are the first step in relieving pain of this nature. With that release you can coordinate treatment.
