If your blood sugar is 6.2 recommends me stringent diet and exercise or maybe medication. To prevent complications ideally hbaqc is <6, ideally 4.6 - 4.8 (truely normal) or aft least as close to 5 as you can get it.
Well it can. 6.2 is better then 7.2 thats for sure. You might have high blood pressure too
Hello,
an A1c of 6.2 is 'low' for a person with diabetes who doesn't have good control. Many people with diabetes have much higher a1c due to not being optimally managed / treated.
however, consider that < 5.0 is normal. It is known that diabetic complications occur with a1c over 5 and risk of other conditions like vascular disease, eye disease, kidney disease, all increase exponentially as a1c rises above 5.
Better to target as close to normal as one can. With modern knowledge and tools and a1c in the 5s is possible for many people.
The fact is that an A1C of 6.2 is low for a diabetic. The percentage chances of developing diabetes related complications at an A1C under 7 are extremely low. Of course you want to get into the normal range if possible, but don't stress yourself out over a 6.2.
I want to gain little bit of weight(2-3 kg) without increasing my sugar level...Please guide me friends about increasing weight and related diet.. which is beneficial for me and which doesnt increase my sugar level...Please reply friends...
Ask for an examination by your doctor... some of these are as follows:
1) SGPT - for the liver
2) Createnine - for the kidney
3) 2D echo and stress test - for the heart
and other examinations... Have a lipid profile also so that your Cholesterol levels can be monitored...
The bottom line is to ask fro your doctor on an examination for your vital organs and then if the result are all fine... then work your way with your diet and exercise if possible to maintain your blood glucose at a safe range... that would be:
80 - 120 mg/dl upon waking up
80 - 120 mg/dl before meals
2 hours after meals, your levels should be less than 170 or 140 mg/dl if possible
70 - 140 mg/dl before you go to bed
70 - 110 mg/dl at 3:00 a.m. while sleeping
While fasting: It is ideal to stay in the 70 - 100 mg/dl range
i was diagnosed in january only...and iam just 32....are my organs safe at present...? wat will be my life span ,if i got diabetes at 32 only....
Yes, that's what diabetes does. How soon or what 'part' or what side effect affects each person differently at different stages/times in their life. The only thing you should be concerned about is to try to obtain normal and/or near normal levels. Some can and some cannot, you just have to try your best at all times.
thanx waverider...
Will H1AC of 6.2 will effect my bodyparts ??
An A1c of 6.2% is considered high. Some doctors may say this is OK while others who understand the eAG [estimated Average Glucose] formula know it is unhealthy to remain at this level. To understand the eAG in relation to an A1c result use this manual formula: [calculators can be located online]
28.7 X A1C – 46.7 = eAG in mg/dl
or
1.583 X A1c - 2.52 = eAG in mmol/l
In your case abhimanyu64, your 6.2% A1c is equivalent to having a daily average glucose level of 131.24 mg/dl.
28.7 X 6.2 - 46.7 = 131.24 mg/dl
As you know anything above 126 mg/dl is considered diabetes. Without knowing your previous A1c result I cannot say if diet and exercise alone is helping to reduce your daily glucose levels. However, do not stop as diet and daily physical exercise are vital with helping to control and manage your glucose levels. You may have to look closer at your diet plan and continue to eliminate certain food types [carbs].
