details are: when one is at risk it is a waiting game,, when one knows the percentage of the risk one is more aware of the facts surrounding a disease.

Hello, there is no genetic testing to tell you for sure your risk.   You can look at family history, but this is not an absolute.

If you think you are high risk, then you should already adopt measures to try to prevent / delay onset and to be as healthy as possible.  This includes:-
- Eating moderately of a diet high in vegetables and plant foods, moderate protein, healthy fats and limiting carbs and particularly sweet foods (Lower carb eating recommended:  paleo style is one approach).
- Exercise daily
- Optimise body weight
- Nuture relationships (to stay happy)
- Stay active and positive in your life

You could also have regular monitoring of paramteres that could include Hba1c (3 month average blood sugar) and fasting glucose, perhaps every 6 - 12 months.

Be proactive.

Also know that diabetes is not a death sentence.  It is an entirely manageable condition, with appropriate lifestyle measures and medications where necessary.

Uncontrolled blood sugars are a recipe for poor health.  However, even people with diabetes can have well controlled sugars.
