Hi,
if you are on statin drugs, recommend you see how you can manage lipids by weight loss and exercise. Statin drugs can cause diabetes, among other complications.
To help with blood sugar, avoid eating too much carbs (keep to the healthy ones like vegetables), and make sure you are eating enough fat and protein (to keep blood sugar stable).
Suggest you start taking up an exercise to become less sedentary. Daily walking for 30 minutes would be an excellent start and very beneficial to your health.
Most of the readings are fasting.
Yes, i am on medication for high lipids and mild hypertension. i have a sedentary life style.
Hello, blood sugar in the 60s is only marginally low. To manage this a lower carb diet may be beneficial (this is because carbs increase insulin levels and insulin levels may make blood sugar lower). Eat regular small sized meals / snacks (every 3 - 4 hours). Snacks/meals should always contain protein and healthy fats - carbs mostly from vegetables, nuts, unsweetened dairy. Thisdm should help keep your blood sugar stable.
Are you on any medications? Have you had any testing by your Dr? Do you monitor blood sugar after eating? When are you seeing these lower numbers?
I am feeling low blood sugar almost daily. Like- 64, 70, 74 etc. What should i do to prevent this ?
Thats a tuff one.
you can delay the onset, if you die before you get diabetes then you prevented it. 20% of the people that get diabetes are of normal BMI.
being fat does not cause diabetes. if it did every body that is fat would be diabetic when only ~ 11% of fat people have diabetes. Some research shows that its diabetes that make people gain the weight.
Hi
yes it is reversible. What you need to do is weight loss (slow and steady), daily exercise at least 30 minutes and some of this should be intense, low carb diet. Avoid all sugars, limit grains, and fruits. Nonstarchy veges and proteins are your new best friends, vegetable frutis such as egg plant, capsicum, avocado are all good. Unsweetened diary, eggs, nuts, etc.
You could follow a paleo or primal way of eating. You are lucky to catch this now before it turns into diabetes, which it very likely will in a few years if you are not able to act now.
