Pre diabetes causing recurring yeast infection?

Hello, I've been recently diagnosed pre diabetic. Is it possible that this is causing a recurrent hard to treat yeast infection? I've tried Monistat and Diflucan. Neither work. It feels better at first but then it's right back with a vengeance. I've had many yeast infections over the years and never one that just wouldn't go away. Thoughts?

Hello and welcome to the forum. Thank you so much for your question, it's a good one.  There is a correlation between yeast infections and diabetes that is documented.   If you have too much sugar circulating which is part of type 2 diabetes, sugars link to yeast overgrowth would then come into play.  https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/diabetes-thrush  I would try to cut down on sugar in your diet if you haven't already, do the things necessary to deter developing full diabetes (manage diet, exercise, etc.) which should also help with multiple yeast infections.  I'm sure this is very frustrating for you.  There are other reasons for chronic yeast infections too.  Talk to your doctor. https://www.healthline.com/health/chronic-yeast-infection

Hi.  Absolutely there is a strong link between skin fungal infections and diabetes and prediabetes.

How high were your blood sugar levels to get you diagnosed as prediabetes.

You may need to treat yourself as if you were diabetic, in terms of diet (lower carb and avoiding processed foods) and exercise...  even possibly ask your doctor about a prescription for an insulin sensitising drug such as metformin to help with normalising blood sugar levels.

Hope this helps.  Please let us know how you are going.
