Has anyone been told by a doctor that if they got pregnant with type 1 they would have to go on dialysis?

That did not happen to me. I had been diabetic for 20 years when I got pregnant with my son.

Hi Nichole, here are a few general articles on pregnancy and diabetes that might help you learn more about getting pregnant.

You can find these in the Sugar Sense app, too, in the Stay Well section of the Health Guide, which you can find by selecting the menu button in the top left.

If your blood sugar is well controlled and your kidneys in good shape there should not be any major problem with pregnancy, even with type 1 diabetes.

Not all pregnant women with type 1 will need dialysis, but it depends on your medical history and of course, what condition your kidneys are in.
