When you are sick your body is under stress and it is quite common to have increased blood sugar / increased need for insulin.
Passing ketones is likely a combination of not eating (thus your body is losing/ burning fat), and the high blood sugar / being ill.
If you are passing high level of ketones (low level is not a worry, particularly if it is after a period of fasting / not eating), and you can't get your blood sugar down, you should go to emergency care to get checked as there is a risk of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Hope you are already better.
i too have type 2 and have heard this that when you are ill your BG goes up a lot. I am curious why also
