Why Did Metformin Increase My A1C?

MY A1C was 11.2 in April 2019 by June 2019 it was 9.8. while only taking Glyburide So my doctor added Metformin. Three months later my A1C was 10.6. and two months after that it was 11.5. Stop taking the Metformin and now it's 10.2. this is three months later.  I'm trying to figure out why this happen. When I ask my Doctor they are surprised, but had no answer for but want to change my medicine again.

Are you doing any lifestyle modifications, like watching carbs, sugars and exercise?

Medication helps, but can't do everything. When you were on the metformin, how was your diet? Did it change when you went off it?

If all other things are equal, and this is the first time you've used metformin, it is surprising that you didn't respond to it.
