Worried for my Mom

I am worried about my mom because I think she might be diabetic but her Doctor doesn't seemed concerned. I have tested her with my meter first thing in the morning and her numbers have been high 9's and 10's and I was under the impression that someone without diabeties doesn't go this high. Anyone know what normal numbers should be?

You are talking about first thing in the morning readings of 162 to 180 which are most definitely not normal; normal fasting numbers would be under 100.  I would ask the doctor why he isn't concerned. What tests did he do and what results did he have. If he continues to express lack of concern over numbers that are well into the diabetic range I would see a different doctor or an endo.

Thank you! I did go in and talk with her Doctor and he seemed very clueless he hum and hoed and told me what her numbers were last year and it was 5.8. So  I asked him for her ac1 results that she went in for two weeks previous and he couldn't find them. Yes these were her morning fasting numbers that I took with my meter, So I will go back to her doctor and push for him to get on top this and send her to see an endo.I am the only one my mom has to take care of her so whether I am "going beyond my PAYGRADE" I am all she HAS! I am worried I think with good reason! Thank you Zoelula for your answer I will let you know how it goes.

With due respects, you are operating beyond your pay grade. It is pointless to provide you with norms to "interpret".

If you are dissatisfied with her own physician, get your mom an evaluation at a diabetic screening facility.

While I am often critical of physicians, I find no reason to worry someone unnecessarily and a diabetic screen is a no-brainer.
