sleeping after eating

Sometimes when I eat, like last night after I ate a frozen Turkey pot pie I felt so drowsy afterward and went into a deep sleep for a couple hours. I actually feel better if I don't eat much, whenever I eat certain types of food I feel bad and tired. I try to eat somewhat healthy, I don't over eat and I don't drink sugary drinks, I always drink water. But I do indulge in chocolate ice-cream, but I don't over do it. Usually I will eat a dessert once a day and I eat small proportioned meals. I also urinate a lot but I have always had problems with frequent urination since I was a child. Could this still be pre-diabetes?

See an Endocrinologist for some bloodwork so you can know for sure where you stand with this.  This is not something to be guessing at, if you are diabteic you need to start treatment right away.  I wish you all the best!

I have a appointment with the doctor next week. I tested again after oatmeal, two small beef tacos and fruit juice and it was 90.

You require a complete physician's evaluation, to include an hba1c, and either a fasting glucose tolerance or the equivelant (insulin cloamp protocol). Your symptoms strongly suggest an insulin utilization problem.

Taking ocasional blood sugar levels is meaningless in terms of evaluating your diabetic status.

I just took my blood sugar and it was 96 after I  had a cup of coffee with milk and sugar. I am about to eat oatmeal with no sugar.

Pre-diabetes?

It sounds like diabetes.

Needless to say, you require a physical examination and lab tests ASAP.

Your physician will prescribe appropriate medications, if indicated.
