It was day one of a new strict regime for me - I ended up eating around 1000 calories. The result is that I've been hungry and moody and tired, so I'll definitely be upping it tomorrow.... (I'm a small girl who doesn't exercise due to health issues, so I definitely don't need many calories)

According to a calorie counter, I have to limit myself to 1544 calories a day for "extreme weight loss". That still seems like a lot to me. I don't know, I lost three pounds in 4 days by only eating 1500 calories so maybe that is about right!

Haven't been keeping track too well lately.  Lots of problems with fluid retention which makes my weight bounce around like a yo-yo anyway.  Plus, the old thyroid "wigs" out on me every now and then, so sometimes it doesn't matter - I'm going to gain no matter what.........

I THINK I'm staying pretty much around 1200/day though, as I DO try to keep a "mental" count.  I work at a job that keeps me going from one place to another, lots of driving, walking, etc, so it's extremely hard to write everything down and meals are often "finger food" (raw fruit/veggies, etc) or sandwiches, eaten while driving from one place to another.  I've become "best buddies" with all the Subway stores.  Although I can't always count every morsel that goes into my mouth, I do try my best to make healthy choices.

I stay below 1200 per day, actually closer to 1000... but, I'm a small woman at 5' 2" and 117 lbs. So, body size is a definite factor when calculating caloric intake.

I eat 1500 hundered a day. I count calories because I am seirous about losing weight. My thoughts of counting calories are as such. Theres no way to keep track of what you are putting into your body each day unless you are writing it down so you can see what type of patterns you have with eating and the amount of calories.
I have read that with losing weight 70% of what you do to lose weight, has to do with food, keeping track of what you eat and what not. Someone can work out all they want to lose weight and do it somewhat, but if you dont change how you eat and what not, that makes a huge difference.
It may be too much work sometimes, but after about a week of it, it is sooo easy!

I voted #1. I usually average somewhere in the 1300-1400s. Since August 2007 I've been eating around 1100-1300 but I'm trying to gradually increase it a little more now. Just a few more lbs to go until I can finally start eating a maintenance range!

I voted number 2. But honestly, I dont count calories but I do watch how many I take in. Counting calories is too much work for me.
