Sculptor's Attitude

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.

Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.

Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.

Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.

Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was growing up or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.

Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

Today I can mourn my lack of friend or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.

Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.

Today I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.

Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honored because the Lord has provide shelter for my mind, body and soul.

Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.

What today will be like is up to me. I get to choose what kind of day I will have!

Thank you so much -- I'm happy that those thoughts "insisted" that they get posted today.  

I actually DID find work to do inside today, so I didn't have to be in the rain -- my day turned out to be very productive and I'm quite satisfied.  AND another of my "thorn bushes" has a rose on it --- milky white with tiny tinges of the palest pink on the edges of the petals .....plus the cold, rainy weather tends to bring a whole host of birds to the backyard feeders  -- gold finches, blue birds, cardinals and sparrows, blue jays .........my weight didn't change today, but *I* did.........

Well there you go, we can all find the the negatives really easy, but turning those negatives into positives is the key to our happiness with what we have,
Its strange that you had those thoughts today, I was going to post another thought that i found last night, but i woke up to rain too and this one came to my mind and would not leave, It was obviously meant for you.

Well, that changes the perspective considerably, Elaine --- I got ready for work today, disappointed that it's raining and of course, my work is outside and I'm still recuperating from last week's bout the flu -- well, the grass is getting watered for free and maybe I can find something to do indoors, so I don't have to get wet.  The whole day is before me to make what I want of it.  

Oh -- my "thorn bush" DOES have a rose on it ---- the most delicate pink I've seen in a long time and it, too, is getting watered for free.................
