Sunday Weigh In Augst 8, 2021

Good morning.  I hope everyone is doing well today.  It's a beautiful day here, but will get very hot by the end of the day AND if today is like most days, we'll probably end up with some rain.  Not bad compared to what some parts of the country are going through.

It's been kind of busy this past week.  We decided Wednesday night to take off for a couple of days, so we drove down south Florida and spent the night in a little cabin close to Lake Okeechobee.  It was a nice drive and we had a good, relaxing stay, even though it was only overnight.  Sometimes the spur of the moment things end up being more pleasant than something that's planned for months ahead.

Aside from that, I've been practicing my floral painting.  Yesterday was third of a series of 3 classes and now that I've learned "what" to do to make nice florals, I have to practice and learn "how" to do it.  :-)  With the issue in my neck, I can't always make my hand do what my brain tells it to do, so what I end up with doesn't always resemble my original plan.  Oh well, I'll get the hang of it, eventually.

I'm still trying to watch what I eat and how much, but I haven't gotten busy with the exercise yet.  It seems there's always something else that needs to be done.  lol    One day earlier in the week, my weight was down from last week by 2 lbs and the next day is was up by 2 lbs - that's quite a swing and I know I don't eat that many calories, so I think I'm safe in saying that fluctuation was fluid retention.  I haven't weighed today, but will do so later and figure out whether I've actually lost or gained.

So how was your week?  I know a lot of places are already starting school, so I supposed everyone is busy getting kids ready.  We're almost done with our "tax-free" week, during which people can buy certain school supplies, clothing, etc and not have to pay sales tax on the items.  That saves quite a bit.  IDK if all states have something like that, but it would be nice if they did.

Anyway, I hope you were able to meet/exceed whatever goal(s) you set for yourself during the past week and look forward to hearing about it.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

I weighed this morning and am down a pound from last week. Since I was up a little last week, it doesn't add up to a whole pound over two weeks, but it's better than being right in the same place as last week.

We went to a memorial service for my aunt today. We all sat outside, trying to avoid the one non-vaccinated cousin and her boyfriend, who both refused even to wear a mask. There were at least 15 people over 80 years old at the event and one over 90, so my cousin in charge stood firm and made arrangements for the holdouts to get tested, or else they couldn't come. I was impressed by her willingness to make the hard call, though she had the support of her siblings. The resistant cousins did get the tests in time to come to the service (they probably wouldn't have, except the direct descendants were all going to go to the beach after the service and stay in a house together and she wanted to go). But how good is a quick-results Covid test really, if you got exposed to something a couple of days before you got tested? So, we stayed upwind of her. She glared at everyone (evidently she was sure we all were liberal pansies who believe fake news and hate freedom). But she was there. Aunt Patty was that beloved.

I've been able to stay off the Dr. Pepper again this week (with the help of a glass of lemonade a couple of times). This is good news -- I was never able to stay off the bad Doctor this long before. If I can keep it up, I should be able to lose a half pound a week on that basis alone.

Have a great week!

Congratulations... It's always better to be down than staying the same week after week.

I'm about the loss of your aunt.  Kudos to the one who stuck to her insistence that they unvaccinated cousin and boyfriend get tested prior to coming.  They should know better since there were elderly people at the service.  As for the quick COVID test - if they just were exposed a couple of days prior to taking it, it's not very accurate, but then none of the tests can pick it up that quickly, so from what I've heard it's as good as any.  I had to get one, myself, last fall.

You've done really well with the Dr Pepper issue.  Look at this way - lemon is good for your kidneys and if you make it at home without a lot of sugar, it's quite healthy - much better than the Doctor.  :-)

Enjoy your week.
