Much like Barb 135, I think more information is key to finding what would be the most satisfying solution for you. One problem with the idea of "dieting" today is that everyone thinks it should be the same for everyone, but that's just not true. Each fad diet works, but unless you pick something that suits your lifestyle, you won't be able to maintain it.
So, for snacking, what are your favourite vegetables? Perhaps we can think of fun ways to make them snackable...
As for excercise, I like classes. They can be quite interesting. If you want something way out there, you can take a pole dancing class...or bellydancing. If you want something more sedate, try yoga, pilates, or just google your area. You never know what is available. Usually you can take these classes in a series that lasts a few weeks so that you can decide if you really want to do it. Or, if you want to do the normal stuff like the gym or running, but you need someone to make it interesting, you can look into craigslist or something to see if there is an exercise group in your area. Groups can really help push you further than most people can push themselves.
Well, I hate to answer questions with more questions, but it would be easier to help you if you could tell us a bit more. Like what you are currently eating; maybe you don't need to change your entire diet, but just cut back on the portion sizes? Fruits and raw veggies are always good choices for snacks and of course, each meal should have veggies as a main item.
What types of exercise do you think would be fun? Do you like to go to the gym? Some are quite inexpensive these days. Or you can often download things for free; check out your local library - many have dvd's that you can "borrow". Do you enjoy walking? That's always a great one.
Let us know what you like - both for food and exercise - and we can try to help you build a plan.
