Sunday Weigh In - May 4, 2014

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  How are we all doing today?  It's bright and sunny where I am, after about 3 days of rain, so it's beautiful in my world.

So - how did we do this past week?  I did pretty good, with eating; not as well with exercise, but I'm getting there.  I'm trying to add more veggies to my diet and a new one I added this week was sweet potatoes, but it has to be a certain kind!!  I was in 2 different grocery stores one day and each had a different type of sweet potato/yam so I bought one in each store... now I can't remember which potato came from which store!!  LOL  Anyway, baked with some salt and a bit of butter --- yummy!!  Once I figure out where I got it, I'll make those a regular part of my diet, in place of baked white potato, which I dearly love.  That was my new experience for the week!!

I've also been trying to be more diligent in writing down what I've eaten.  I know I should use it, but I find the app a bit cumbersome and for me, I pay more attention, when I take the time to actually pick up my pen and write down what I ate. I have a little notebook reserved for that purpose.

As for exercise - I was pretty lax on that, though I did get in one 2+ mile walk.  I think I mentioned before that my winter neighbor has gone back to her home state for the summer, so I find myself less motivated when left to my own devices.  I do have a treadmill and I put it to use yesterday, with a 30 minute interval "walk".  I can change the speed with the push of a button, so I start slowly to get warmed up, then gradually increase the speed for 15 second intervals.  When I get as high as I can go, I slowly decrease the speed for 15 second intervals until I'm at a point that I can walk easily.  This can also be done outside on a regular walk; one need not have a treadmill to do it.

Anyway,  for all my efforts, both, with diet and exercise, I get to claim a 1.2 pound loss for the week, so I'm happy with that.  Of course, that doesn't mean I won't get it back this week, as it seems I've gained and lost the same few pounds every week for that past few years, since I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, but I keep trying!!

Now, it's your turn.  How did you do this week?  If you met the goal of losing one pound (or more) this week, congratulations.  If you didn't, do you know what stalled your efforts?  Let us know how we can help, whether it be tips, motivation, support, etc.  We're here to do whatever we can to help you succeed.

Wishing everyone a great, successful week.

Remember:  we win by losing -- weight!!

Hi All!

Hi Barb! I love sweet potatoes! Congrats on your loss!

Hi CanDoThis! That's okay, atleast you've shed a few right back.

I've been doing bad in my eating too this week and also in my exercise. I didn't have enough time to do so but I promise to do well this week. About my eating, it is kind of intentional. I really increased my eating this time because I will be out of town for 3 days after about less than 2 weeks and I need to pump 3 days worth of milk for my baby. I tried eating as I normally do the first day but since I am pumping milk, my baby isn't getting enough while breastfeeding. He was crying for more. And I cannot produce enough with what I'm eating. So yeah, you guessed it. I decided to increase my calorie intake just so I can compensate for my milk supply, which well, really increased this time as I am already leaking sometimes. I didn't even bother completing my food data on the diary because I ate loads and they're just too many to list.  I actually gained about 3kg the first time I took my weight after all the eating modification. But this Sunday, I got back to 45kg from 47 kg. I don't know how it happened tbh. And it's quite scary how I can gain 3kg in just a few days lol so I'm being more careful now and I am already taking time to list down the foods I ate just so I can still control my eating somehow and not go really overboard (coz I tend to do that). I plan on increasing my protein this week and lessening my carb intake. I always go overboard on carb when I am increasing my intake, I guess that's why I gained a lot in a few days. And I'm also guilty of eating sugary and really salty foods. I'll try to control it this week. Anyways, overall I gained 1kg since last week. But I kind of expected it. This will last until I completed the milk stash I am supposed to pump.

Good luck to all again for next week.

I'm very sorry to hear about your depression.  Are you getting some type of treatment for that?

Now that you've discovered that eating doesn't make you feel better when you're depressed, maybe that will help keep you from repeating the same thing over.

It's too bad that you gained the 4 pounds, but like I told you - you have to be as kind, to yourself, as you would be to your best friend, because you should be your best friend.

I'm happy to hear that your depression has lifted and that you're ready to move forward again.  In view of how your week started, I think a 0.6 lb loss is awesome and it's even better that you're starting the new week with a fresh sense of purpose.

We both know that you CanDoThis...

Hello,

My weigh loss wasn't so great this week. As I wrote in my journal,  I lost my motivation and quitted for a few days. With that sadness of mine, I ate a lot and then after seeing what I did, I ate a little more just to feel better. Guess what? I didn't feel better at all, I felt so bad I didn't know what to do. So my "depression" lasted for a couple of days (which lasted like forever). Anyway, I gain 4 pounds but by friday I pulled myself together and decided not to quit. I loss 0.6 punds since friday. I think of that as a sucess since my week didn't start so nicely. I hope to get back in shape by next week. Started today. Wish me luck, I don't want to lose my track again.
