Sunday Weigh-In July 4, 2021

Good morning and Happy 4th of July.  I hope everyone has a great day planned.  It's raining here (or getting ready to), so there won't be much going on.  We've had rain every day for the past few weeks (the month of June brought us total of 12+ inches of the wet stuff).  We also currently have Tropical Storm Elsa bearing down on us but it keeps slowing down, so we aren't sure where it will go or when it will get there.

This week has been something of a challenge trying to get 3 acres mowed between rain showers, especially, after one of the mowers broke yesterday, but we managed to do it.

I'm still trying to be really careful with what I eat and how much, but I'm not making much of a dent in my weight.  I was down a pound yesterday from last week, but this morning, I was back up, equal to last week, so I seem to be getting nowhere fast.  I haven't been eating sweets, except for the sweet cherries that are abundant in the local grocery stores.  Yes, I know they have a lot of sugar, but they're also a lot healthier than a candy bar with fewer calories.

I've also used my treadmill a few times and if the rain ever stops, I plan to start getting out for my evening walks again.  I've also started doing a few yoga poses throughout the day.  Yoga is great for stretching and strengthening muscles.  I seem to rarely come up with 30 minutes during which I can concentrate on exercise but any movement is better than no movement so I do what I can.  I spend a lot of time working on my calligraphy... I have a tall (counter height) table that I work at much of the time to avoid sitting for hours on end.

Anyway, I'll go with staying the same as last week and on that note, I'll stop and post as the power just flickered, knocking out my computer.  Fortunately, I was able to retrieve my post, but might not be so lucky next time.

I hope everyone was able to meet their goals for the week and look forward to hearing about it.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

Good for you to use the treadmill. I'm tempted to buy a treadmill or an eliptical, but wonder if over time I won't use it. Don't want it to just become an expensive clothes tree in my bedroom.

I'm up .2 of a pound, which really means I've stayed at the same weight as last week; I could probably have gotten the .2 of a pound to go away by breathing out. That's not bad because I was down a pound last week, but not loss either. I've been eating carefully overall, to compensate for not a lot of exercise. If I can find *something* in the exercise category that I can stand to do it should help, since my food is evidently at least in control enough to keep me from gaining. I've been eyeballing this strength-training place near me, that looks possible. If I had a trainer watching me do stuff, I'd do it. Now that I've got the vaccine, I feel safer in a small gym like they have.

Because it's been so hot here and we're still under some Covid restrictions in terms of crowds, the governor has prohibited fireworks shows tonight, and our wooded town has prohibited home fireworks. Makes some of my neighbors so mad that they have been shooting off fireworks several nights. Will be glad when tomorrow comes if there hasn't been a big fire.

Hope everyone has a meaningful Independence Day and a good week!
