Thank you anyway; it was a great thought while it lasted... :-)
Sarah... I'm glad you only lost 1/2 lb; the way you've been dropping it for a while had me a bit worried, under the circumstances.
I guess if I were a teenager or a young lady, I'd worry about having wrinkles in my butt (I do have some, though it's not quite "sharpei style"...lol); at my age, there aren't a lot of people that see it anyway... A puppy butt might not be the worst thing that happens when we get older. :-)
Hope you enjoy your 3 Dog Night concert tonight.
Hmmm...I guess snakes burrowing in my yard is always possible, but I don't know what kind they would be. We're not exactly in anaconda country since those come from South American rainforests and we don't have any rainforests where I live; it actually gets quite hot and dry here since we've been in a drought and need rain pretty bad. There are alligators in my area, but they stay around the lakes/ponds/streams/rivers. We don't live near any water, so no, I'd be very surprised if we'd ever see an alligator in our yard or even in our neighborhood... the nearest body of water is about 3 miles away so any 'gator in our neighborhood would be "lost" and we'd need to call Fish and Game to get it back home or it would die as they need water.
We do have rattlesnakes, black snakes, corn snakes and others and I did see a cottonmouth once in the field next door, but to my knowledge, those don't burrow. Of course, I can always be wrong. :-) I've read that rattlesnakes sometimes take over the holes of the gopher tortoise (protected species, not to confused with a pocket gopher) that does burrow but they did very deep into the ground and make large tunnels and holes.
I hope your daughter's appointment didn't bring any surprises.
I'm sorry I left y'all in the lurch, here... My eye is a lot better today and I can spend a little time catching up with things...
Annie, you're right about the intermittent thing with your eating. It's kind of like intermittent exercise. It's good for your body to do different things. Too often, we think we have to consume the same amount of calories, or the same foods, every day and/or do the exact same exercise routine, but when we do that, our body gets used to the same thing and it's no longer a challenge so we settle into that routine. When we add/subtract calories or exercise, our body has to do something different, so it's kind of thrown off balance for a while.
That's, typically, how we recommend breaking a plateau - by either eating 250 calories more/less or exercising 250 calories more/less and/or doing different things i.e. if you're used to walking 5 miles every day, change it up and do an hour of strength training or if you're used to eating 1200 calories/day, change it up and eat 1500 calories/day. It's not recommended that adult women eat less than 1200 calories/day (according to my doctor and holistic nutritionist, but some may say different). That is why you can splurge once in a while and not seem to do any harm as far as your weight is concerned. I do it sometimes, also and usually end up losing a pound or two directly after the splurge. But sometimes it backfires and I'll end up gaining that pound or two also. It just depends on my body at a given time; since I've gotten Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism my body doesn't react to things the way it used to and the way I'd expect it to.
I'm not familiar with the "New Girl" tomato seeds. I didn't see any of those when we looked for our tomato plants, though the Early Girls are all over the place. I've just about given up on growing tomatoes because the bug are so plentiful here, it seems that something always ends up getting them.
I did find plans for a tub to grow them in this year that I thought was going to be just the thing, so of course, I made one. It turned out great and I planted 2 nice looking tomato plants - Heirlooms, at that... I even planted the marigolds and other herbs along with the tomatoes to discourage bugs. They were doing great, but it wasn't long until I noticed that "something" was eating the leaves and next thing I knew the tomato plants were nothing but stalks. They did produce about half a dozen very tiny tomatoes...whoopty doo!!
Safe weight loss is 1-2 lbs/week, so having luck with your efforts to lose the 2 lbs...
Apparently the "New Girl" are an improvement on Early Girl in terms of disease resistance. My mom always plants Early Girl but did some research and got interested, and then she couldn't find any New Girl starts. She was so disappointed when recounting the story at the big Italian lunch that I thought "I'll surprise her and find some New Girls! Wow, what a daughter I am! She'll be so impressed!" thing. But best I could do is get Johnny's Selected Seeds to mail me some seeds at 2nd-day air prices (exorbitant, given the weight. Tomato seeds, even in seed packets, weigh less than a feather). And it's kind of dumb to start tomatoes from seed when you can get healthy and lovely plants at the garden center for two bucks each. But it turned out well -- we got together for dinner with my sister and there was Mom, and I did please her by telling her that I had gotten her some seeds. She said "Well, that's closer than I was able to manage." So my son and I will be planting today. They say 62 days from seed to fruit, we shall see.
I am down 1/2 lb this week so am pleased considering the other weeks have been more. Did i mention i got a good view of my butt the other day? It is gone but what is left has wrinkles on it. It looks like one of the sharpei dogs!!! I suppose i could do that buns of steel video but i will just settle for puppy butt!!!
It has been so hot and humid he3re. Farmers are still trying to get their crops in the field. We may be seeing lots more beans than corn as alot of it got flooded out with all the rain we have had too.
Gave myself a manicure and pedicure tonight. Am in the drying stage so typing this is rather tricky!!
Spending the night tomorrow at my daughters. She has an 8:20 appt in Rochester and i didnt feel like getting up at 4 a.m. If you have never been to Mayo in Rochester you wont understand the "parking" issues!!! It is pure hell!!! We are getting closer to surgery (18th). My tolerance level is at ZERO for everything and anything. This waiting is taking a toll on everyone especially her.
3 Dog Night is performing in Mankato on Friday so hubby and i are going. Am excited about that!! Those boys have aged but it will be fun to see them no matter how they sound!!
Early girl are good tomatoes Annie, nice and meaty!
Maybe you have snakes Barb, like anacondas!!! lol Do you ever get alligators or crocodiles?
I'm not sure I did myself much of a favor buying a digital scale that measures to the decimal of a pound, because I get on it and breathe in, and it goes up .2, and breathe out, and it goes down .2. For a person like me, that means I don't know how much I "really" weigh.
However, the general drift is that after getting up and going to the bathroom twice on purpose so it would be as low as possible, I am somewhere between .6 and .8 of a pound less than I was at this time last week. Probably .6 of a pound. That's OK with me.
I read an interesting thing about how fasting (not intermittent fasting, but simply cutting way back in general on what one eats, to the point of having a radically lower intake all the time than one did before) does not reduce a person's weight as much as one would think, because the body will start storing everything, sensing starvation. But that if the body is used to getting a certain amount of food and then just once every few days gets a lot less, it will freely burn its fat stores that day because it does not think the one day of reduced intake means starvation. This might explain why I don't gain a lot in general when I have a big eating day among regular days, like last week's big Italian lunch. I was surprised I wasn't up after that.
Bought some "New Girl" tomato seeds, have to get them into the peat-moss mix and onto a warm floor to000 - daaay. The whole idea is about six weeks late, they are an improvement on "Early Girl," meaning, hey, I should have planted them early! But I only heard about them last week (at the Italian lunch, in fact. From my mother.) And nobody had starts, I had to go online to even find the seeds. They are supposed to be good for other reasons (not just for being early) and it hailed here yesterday, so I don't really mind being late with my early tomatoes. :)
Have a good week! I'm going to get a little aggressive and try for a two-pound loss this week, no more dicking around. lol
