Sunday Weigh In May 31, 2020

Good morning... how is everyone doing this morning?  There's not a lot going on in my world, these days.  We're still staying pretty close to home, in spite of the fact that most businesses are opening up again.  We still go buy our food once/week and I've been to the doctor a couple of times - other than that, I've spent most of my time secluded in my workshop trying to get the cedar chest refinished, that I've been working on for (literally) years.

This past week, I finally got the cedar chest completely sanded to my satisfaction, and actually started putting finish on it.  I wanted to keep the look of the cedar boards so I sprayed the main body (front, ends and back), which are solid cedar, with a clear finish.  The top and some trim along the bottom of the chest aren't cedar and the wood isn't so pretty, so I decided to paint those.  I'm using a chalk-type paint and will protect it with polyurethane...  So - the main body is complete and I have a couple of coats of paint on the top.  I'm hoping that the body of the chest is dry enough today so I can go ahead and take the paper/tape off and get it painted, as well as some short legs I purchased to go on the chest.  I'm going to get my husband to help put the top (lid) back on as it will be easier to put the finish on if I can raise/lower it as needed vs having to keep flipping it from side to side.

I did my chiropractor appointment earlier in the week... The chiropractor thinks the issue with my neck is causing some of my cramps, as well as the horrible itch I've had on my back for ages.  My pcp has removed a couple of spots he thought might be causing the itch; that didn't work so he sent me to a dermatologist who found nothing.  She just said the "nerve endings are too close to the surface of the skin".  We'll see if the chiropractic care has any better results than the other things that have been tried.  Can't hurt, right?  And I'm still hoping it will get rid of the pain in my neck so I don't have to get that trigger point injection.

I did start doing some different stretches, etc that I'm hoping might help my neck - they do help ease the pain for a short time.  They're yoga style stretches so shouldn't hurt, even if they actually do what I want them to.

Weight-wise, as of yesterday, I was down a pound since last week, but earlier in the week, I'd been up so I'm never real sure, exactly where I stand.  I'd hoped the new thyroid medication I was prescribed would help boost metabolism, but so far it hasn't done much.  Of course, I haven't changed my eating all that much either, so there's that.   :-)  I haven't weighed yet this morning, but I'll do that in a little bit and post again later with those results.

So - that's me... What's going on in your world?  Did you watch the space shuttle go up yesterday?  I missed that because I was taking a nap while waiting for paint to dry!!   Anyway, I'm hoping you're all well and that your week turned out exactly as you had planned.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

Nice that you were down a pound earlier this week anyway! I wish I had a chiropractor that is as good as yours sounds.

I think I'm up about .2 of a pound. Our digital scale began to weigh my husband and me about six pounds heavy yesterday (he noticed and asked me about it, and we know *he* hadn't gained six pounds). I have seen that before when the batteries needed to be changed, so put some AAA's in, but they were loose in a drawer. I tested them with a battery tester and they tested OK so I used them, but the scale has since given me three wildly different readings. Time to order some for-sure brand-new batteries. We got rid of our cracked and dusty old scale in the master bath, but do have a little-used scale in the guest bath, and it seemed to confirm the one reading I got when the digital scale seemed to not be acting up, which was the .2 of a pound. I like digital scales usually, but this one is pretty exasperating.

Our project this week has been cleaning out kitchen cupboards. Since we've lived at the little house, the farm has slowly become more like an unsorted repository than a home. My husband tried to help today, but when I would tell him to take everything out of a cupboard so we could vacuum it out and then sort the things on the way back in, he would take out one item and exclaim over it and go away with it, then come back after five minutes and get one more thing out, and eat it, and then decide he needed to make a drink to go with it. Then he'd take one other thing out, and go put it in the outbuilding.  Etc.  He's still willing, but when he decided he needed a Scotch at 4 pm I had to reconsider how much this help is worth.

Weather here has been really nice, it's May in Oregon, what can I say. Some rain, a lot of sun, not too hot, very green. We're going out to take a walk now.

Good luck with your week!
