Sunday Weigh In November 14, 2021

Good morning.  I hope everyone's day is off to a good start.  I'm running behind this morning because we had to go do some errands.  It's a beautiful day and was nice to get out early, even though it was a bit chilly.

It's been pretty quiet here.  I've been busy working on a program I'm doing tomorrow for the calligraphy guild I belong to.  It's been kind of a fun project, but I'll be glad when it's over.

We did go away for a couple of days.  There was an antique tractor show, but we got rained out of that and came home earlier than we planned.

While we were gone I ate WAY too much salty food and by the time we got home, I had gained 3 lbs and was SO bloated, it was unreal.  I'm happy say that I lost 4 lbs overnight - so we know that wasn't all fat I gained.   That leaves me down a pound from last week, so I'll take it.  I was getting pretty frustrated with staying the same every week, no matter what I was doing.  So now that I've broken that barrier, I'm hoping I can continue to go down.  Before we went away, I'd done a little bit of walking, but apparently, not nearly enough.  Even at that, it was good to see the scale move for a change.

We have a busy week in store, so I'm hoping I'll be on the move enough again that I won't pick that pound back up again.

How's your week been?  I hope you were able to meet/exceed whatever goals you set for yourself and look forward to hearing about them.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

Too bad the salty food did that, but yay for the salt in your system going away so fast.

My weight tends to bob up and down a bit even when I'm on a downward trend, but this morning, I'm down 1.2 lbs. from last week. In the last three years I've been anywhere from 12-20 lbs. over my preferred weight, and now I'm only 7-8 pounds over it. Definitely stopping the Dr. Pepper did the biggest good. Since I'll continue that forever, maybe I'll finally get down to a weight that leaves me with a stomach that doesn't stick out but not as far down as having chicken-leg looking arms. Time for some weight-lifting, I think!

Barb, you asked if our son was in his new school yet. No, despite having closed on the new house, and I'm sure the new school will let him in if I show up with the deed. But it turns out, it will be up to the individual teachers at the new school whether even to credit his grades if he transfers before the semester (they are a little more likely to credit them if they're for a completed quarter and lots more likely to credit them if they are for a whole semester, but it's really their choice). Anyway, though we do now own the house, the old owners won't be moved out until after Thanksgiving (specialmom calls them "your squatters") and then we need to build a fence and paint over some of their creative accent-wall color choices, so we aren't going to be in right away. Going to the new school sooner would therefore mean driving from our old house every day for a few weeks. This wouldn't be beyond our abilities, but our son is just not a morning person! I don't know where we'd find an added half hour in the morning for the commute without his melting down every day. The semester ends February 3, and maybe we'll be able to move by the middle of January, and right now he's toughing it out at the school he dislikes. Luckily, Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are upon us to help break things up.

We've been eating a lot of quinoa lately. I had a jar of it for at least three years sitting attractively on the counter with other grains at the farm, but never learned to cook with it. Lately, though, a lot of the restaurants and delis where we get food have been serving it, and they do it so well that I've begun to learn to use it. One of the simplest uses is to cook it, then stir Parmesan cheese into it while it's still really hot. In the same way that polenta can be when mixed with cheddar cheese, it's really satisfying. I would credit it with some of my recent weight loss. Plus, adding more fiber to my diet (Benefiber in orange juice), and also of course deleting the bad Doctor completely.

Hope you have a great week!
