Sunday Weigh-In November 17, 2019

Good morning.  How's everyone doing with the great "cool down" we've had across the country?  We've even had it here.  It was 50° when I got up this morning at 4:45 and surprisingly, didn't get colder as it got closer to daylight so that was a good thing.  We're only headed for a high of 67° today so it's not going to be all that warm, but I'm sure some of you would think that feels like summer.  :-)

It's been pretty quiet, yet hectic at our house this week.  I had doctor's appointments along with a couple of other appointments, so it was busy.  I did get the stitches taken out from my incision.  They were replaced with "butterfly tapes" which have to stay on until they fall off in 7-10 days.  The surgeon says everything looks good so he's released me unless I need him again, which I hope I don't.

At least one of the pains I was having regularly in the upper left part of my abdomen seems to be gone now.  I asked the surgeon about it and he said that sometimes a Lipoma puts pressure on nerves or other organs.  He said since mine was a large one, we can assume that's what was happening and now that the Lipoma is gone, so is the pressure (and the pain).

Anyway, since I've had the surgery, I've lost somewhere between 4 and 5 lbs, depending on fluid retention.  Part of this is belly bloat, so I'm assuming that not only was the Lipoma putting pressure on a nerve somewhere, it might also have been putting pressure on intestines or something, not allowing food to go through like it should.  That's not say it's all great, because it isn't, but it's better.

I only have 4 lbs to go and I'll be back to where I was when we went back to Iowa in May for my MIL's funeral, which is, basically, when most of my issues really started.

My winter neighbor will be back here tomorrow and as soon as my husband and I return from our cruise next weekend, we'll begin our daily walks so hopefully, it won't be so terribly hard to lose that 4 lbs (I certainly don't expect to do it on the cruise...lol).

Anyway, I think things are looking up for me, though I'm still very tired and not up to par, I'm hoping that will change as I regain my strength and get back to exercising, etc.  I've even managed to do a little work in my shop and have sold about 15 of the hand-turned ink pens I make.  I've got most of them made - I have only a couple more to make but want to make some extras as I've talked to some people who might want to get some "on the spur of the moment".

I haven't weighed yet this morning... I'll do that in a little bit and will post back later with my weight for this morning.

I hope your week turned out exactly as you planned it.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

Hi, my scale still hasn't turned up, so I think the only thing to do is to go buy one! Will weigh in as soon as I get it, which might mean recalibrating how much I think I weigh. That will be OK, it will at least give me a start to base future weeks' weigh-ins on. My guess would be that I'm staying level. Like last week this guess is based on how my pants fit!

We had a nice little party last night for a sister who is in town, nine people came over and I made potato soup and salad, good for a cool and blustery evening. Several family members hadn't seen our new house, and this was a low-key way to have them over (versus a housewarming, not possible with a couple of rooms still full of unpacked boxes). Other than that the week has been pretty uneventful.

Off to the store to look for a digital scale. :) Have a good week!
