Sunday Weigh-In October 27, 2019

Good morning and how are we, today?  I hope everyone is doing well.  It's a fine day here, so far, but of course, I've learned the hard way, every day is subject to change.

I returned home Friday from attending the unexpected death of my nephew.  He was 53 yrs old and although he'd had a stroke about 10 years ago and was disabled because of it, his death was a surprise to everyone, particularly, his parents, my brother and sister-in-law.  We aren't meant to outlive our children and there's nothing more heart-wrenching than to watch parents lose a child, even if that child is grown and/or ill.

This was the fourth funeral I've attended since May and my mind is becoming numb from it all.  I'm praying this is the end, but of course, we never know.

Anyway, I'm back home and although it's hard to just pick up where you left off, I'm trying to move on.  I have tons of things that I've left undone over the summer; now it's time to try to get them finished.  We'll see how that works for me.  :-)

Weight-wise, I'm not sure where I stand this morning as I haven't weighed yet.  I'll wait and do that later in the day.  I haven't been eating much the past few days as my stomach has been very picky lately.  On the other hand, I haven't been doing a lot of exercise, so the scale can go either way.  With the stress I've been under, cortisol has probably been rampant and a gain is likely...

I am scheduled for surgery on Nov 5, to repair/remove the bulge near my navel.  Even the surgeon wasn't quite sure what it is... It may be an incisional hernia (most likely since I've had 3 surgeries there) or it could be a Lipoma.  If it's a hernia, the surgeon said it would only keep getting more painful as time goes on because it will get larger.  Hopefully, that repair will help alleviate some of the abdominal pain I have.  Time will tell, I guess.

Anyway, that's my week - I guess the only good thing is that I got to see some more family that I hadn't seen in a long time.  It's always nice to do that, but I'd sure rather do it under different circumstances.

I hope your week turned out exactly as you had planned.

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

I ended up gaining 0.8 lbs this week... I'm not sure how that happened.  I wasn't eating much of anything during the time I was gone for the funeral, but then I wasn't doing a lot either.  It was very stressful and I'm sure cortisol was flowing like water through my body...lol  I think I need to get back on my adaptogens to get things leveled out again.

Now that I'm back home, I have tons of projects I need to work on, so hopefully, I can start losing again.  I just found out the other day that after the first of the year, my insurance will offer free gym membership, including yoga, tai chi, etc and I'm, so, looking forward to it... Yes!!

Glad the doctor is at least taking the hernia/lipoma seriously enough to do something about it! I sure hope it will help with the abdominal pain.

And the funerals -- wow. Agreed there are better ways to see family than under such sad circumstances. I hope you get a break in that regard, you could sure use some peace from the drumbeat of sad events.

I did remember to weigh this morning before eating anything (usually the thing that gets me in the morning is these 12-ounce mugs of tea we drink ... try weighing after a couple of those!). At first I thought my weight was the same, but then realized it's down 1 1/2 or 2 lbs, though probably not only in a week. This is because I've been weighing on one of those older, non-digital scales, and when I got off, I noticed that the scale was not set at 0, but at two pounds or so more. I turned the little wheel so the scale went back to 0, and there came the weight off! The change (in the base weight the scale was reading) might have happened a couple of weeks ago, which might explain my sudden weight gain of a pound and a half then. Anyway, I'll take it, because I know that my string of weighings on this scale began with it set correctly at 0. We should finally be back to the digital scale next week, as I do think we're moving this Monday. (We thought it would be today, but the yard guys need to get in and out tomorrow with the gates open, to put chips down in the dog area, and our puppy is unreliable. She growled and bristled at the kids who live across the street! My husband said "Let's just move after the workmen are totally done.") At this point, we're down to moving just us, the pets, and a few clothes and the contents of the fridge, because the furniture is in place and also most of our things. But we have errands to run today that are more interesting than packing out the refrigerator at the farm anyway!  lol

Except for the draggy way the move is going, and our dog maybe acting like a very bad girl when it comes to the neighbors, things seem promising for this upcoming week. No rain, even. Hope your week goes well!

Yes, at least the surgeon is going to do something about the bulge near my navel, but then it's to his advantage to do... lol  I'm hoping it will help with the pain, as well though when I talked to the assistant at my gastro's office on Friday, she didn't seem to think it would have a lot of effect on that, so we'll have to see.

As for the funerals, I'm hoping we've had the last of them for a while, but when I consider the ages and conditions of other family members, I have to be realistic and know that it's possible for any of several to have issues at any time.   It is what it is and there's simply nothing I can do to change it.

Wow - I'm glad you got that worked out with your scale and that you're really down 1.5 lbs instead of up that much... lol  I bet you'll be glad to get back to your digital scale so you'll know for sure what your weight is, each week.

You're getting really close to moving.  You'll be in the new really soon then... you could what's left in a couple of hours the way it sounds.  If the workmen get done with the yard early enough tomorrow, you could still get the move completed??

I wouldn't worry about the dog being snarky with the neighbors.  She'll get used to them quickly enough and probably won't even notice they're around pretty soon.

I'm sure you will be glad when the move is done so you can settle into life again.
