Weigh-In September 8, 2019

Good morning...how are we today?  My week has been different, to say the least... you all know that we just got done dealing with the Hurricane Dorian issue and closed airports. Some of you might know that  while that was going on my brother was fighting Stage IV lung cancer and a fungal infection in his lungs, in another state. I did finally get a flight and am currently in South Dakota. I was the last of the siblings to arrive and my brother passed away within a couple hours of my arrival...

It’s been a very difficult week waiting for arrangements to be made, etc. and I will be so glad when it’s over, at which time I’ll be able to go home where I can stop being strong for the benefit of those around me.

Anyway, I don’t have a scale, but I’m guessing I’ve probably lost a couple of pounds anyway because I’d been having a lot of problems with my stomach before my brother became ill and it’s only gotten worse. Prior to coming up here, I’d had an abdominal ultrasound, endoscopy and CT (as noted in previous posts) and so far there has been no diagnosis, other than “gastritis”. There’s no indication as to what causes it or what can be done about it. There has also been no determination in regards to the recent appearance of a bulge in my abdomen...my doctor says it’s a Lipoma (benign fatty lump), but the CT report says that can’t be excluded, but neither is it clearly determined. My research indicates that a Lipoma should not cause pain or discomfort and although my bulge isn’t always downright “painful”, it does often cause considerable discomfort.

Because I’m away right now, I’ll have to wait until I get back home and call the gastroenterologist for an appointment to try to get answers. I also did not hear from the gastro regarding the biopsy taken during the endoscopy to determine if I still have  Pylori, so I need to get that sorted out anyway.

With everything going on, I’m trying to maintain my diet as well as I can, but friends/neighbors are bringing in food galore and you can bet most of it isn’t healthy...One of my nieces did go get groceries the other day and brought back the ingredients for an awesome spinach salad, of which I ate the most, finishing off the leftovers last night while everyone else ate baked potatoes and apple pie - well I admit to a small piece of pie because my sister made it with fresh apples picked straight from her trees... enough said!!! lol

My brother’s funeral will be Tuesday, then we will go to Iowa and spend a couple days with my husband’s family before flying back to Florida on Friday.  I’ll be able to weigh in then and see where I am weight-wise.

That’s my story and I’m ready for the drama to end...how are you doing?  I hope you’ve had a great week..

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

Wow, I knew your brother was in serious condition, but did not realize this was so imminent. I'm so sorry. What a lot to be going through especially right now. I can see what you mean when you say you're ready for the drama to end.

I am at about the same point as before, it's been a stressful week so no weight loss, just maintaining. My son is not happy in his new school, we haven't moved into the new house yet, everything is busy and the farmhouse needs to be unloaded of our extra junk. Nuff said, it's been one of 'those' weeks. But at least no hurricane!

Barb, I sure hope your week gets a little better with each passing day.

(((HUGS)))
