Gastro Paresis Depression/Anxiety

I am a newly diagnosed non-diabetic Gastro Paresis patient. I literally starved for four months during diagnosis.  Is it common to experience depression/anxiety from this condition, the starvation or the medication Reglan? SkinnyMinny

Jen, it sounds like you may have gastritis or possibly an ulcer (ulcer not likely) if those foods you mentioned are associated with your symptoms. If eating makes you feel better that's another sign it's some sort of inflammation or irritation. You might want to see a gastro doc and have a few tests to find out exactly what's going on.

Hi:

What are the symptoms from this and is it something that causes nausea every single time you eat or only occassionally.. I have been experiencing freaquent nausea ( eating frequently helps), lot of gas, some bloating, burning stomach, and my stomach is very tender ( naval area).. Does this sound like gastroparesis. I do know that eating certain foods seems to bring some of these symptoms on ( caffeine, chocolate).... Please help as I'm really starting to wonder what is going on with my stomach..

Thanks,
Jen

If you are unable to tolerate Reglan, you may try getting a prescription for Domperidone.  It is not available in the US but the FDA allows for you to import up to a 3 month supply of it.  It is available in other countries such as Canada and does not have the side effects that Reglan does.

If you are no longer able to take Reglan, what did you do in place of it? SkinnyMinny

Hello,
I was on Reglan for about a month and yes you can have depression on the medicine.....that is one of the side effects and if you notice it you are suppose to call your doctor.....It made me very tired and depressed...I lost all interest in things, including my family........when I got off of the reglan about a week or 2 later I felt like a new person.......hope this helps..
