Have ? please

My name is Dawn and I'm new to this board. I have always had stomache problems,IBS since I was about 18 .Now 40ish .The last several yrs when I get an intestinal flu or food poisoning,and have vomited (sorry gross ) but it starts coming out both ends nothing but blood ,can someone please tell me whats happening ?
Also now I have blood in my stools mixed in.I get bad pain in my back area like the kidney area .Its horrible ,but it comes and goes.Any ideas ?  would greatly appreciate it.

go get a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy, it is easier than you imagine it will be and you have symptoms that even an HMO would have to authorize the test for.  The versed will give you retrograde amnesia and it will be over and the results in to relieve your wonderings. good luck

Any type of gastrointestinal bleeding needs to be evaluated by a doctor.  Bright red blood in the stools comes from the lower intestinal tract and could indicate anything, colorectal cancer, hemorroids, or fissures.  There could also be other reasons.  Dark blood, tarry looking almost black stools, is indicative of bleeding further up in the intestinal tract.  This could signify severe problems.  Seek medical attention.  Vomiting blood can signify many different things as well from bleeding in the upper gi tract to ulcers.  All of these need to be evaluated by a doctor as soon as possible.
