A nice story about a rescued puppy from a puppy mill

It seems we've been hearing an awful lot of horror stories about abused pets, etc. I thought It'd be nice to hear an uplifting story for a change. If you read this month's Guidepost Magazine there's a story in there about a lady who rescued a puppy from a puppy mill. This poor little poodle was badly malnourished and had brittle bones so bad one of her legs had to be amputated. But her sweet spirit was still there in spite of the atrocities she lived through. Now this lady travels around with her dog trying to encourage people to help her get more of these dogs rescued. Judge Judy owns several rescued dogs, by the way. Anyway, they show a picture of this sweet little white poodle and she's just the sweetest thing. Maybe if more people heard about or understood more about puppy mills we can get more dogs out of there and maybe even get these things shut down.
To read the story you can also go to Guideposts ******* (spelled it out so it would show up) and then type in puppy mill. The story will pull right up.
I hope more and more people will consider rescuing these puppies. The dog I have and one of my cat's came from the Humane Society and both were getting ready to be put to sleep. I wish I could save them all.

I see it didn't let me say it. Let me try it again Guideposts d o t  c o m. You get the gist! After you get to the site then just type in puppy mill and the story should pull right up. Also, the author wrote a book on her experience if anyone's interested. It's called "A Rare Breed Of Love" by Jana Kohl. You can order the book by going to ararebreedoflove d o t  c o m.

Jaybay, there are tons of great dogs out there who would make great pets! All they need is a little love and patience. Dogs can be very forgiving. Us humans could learn a lot from a dog.

My aunt was widowed this year and rescued a little bichon who was used as a breeder in a mill for 8 years.  Because she was older and not an outgoing, socialized personality, nobody wanted her.  Well, she was exactly what my aunt needed and vice versa.  It's beyond wonderful watching both my aunt and her pup return to the land of the living.

A good friend of ours just loves Labrador Retrievers, and always thought he had to pay a fortune for a "good" puppy.  We've worked on him over the years educating him about various breed rescues and finally convinced him.  He rescued a 2 year old Lab who turned out to be epileptic, but they both have a great life together.  Even better, the neighbor is now a huge proponent of rescue vs. purchasing animal companions.  If my neighbor's "hard heart" can be pierced, nothing is impossible.  :-)
