American Eskimo

Hi, I have a four year old female American Eskimo who has started losing her hair very early.  She's losing a lot of hair.  Anyone have the same or similar experience.  Usually she doesn't start losing her hair (molting) until September.
Thanks

Can you actually pull out chunks of hair without her feeling it?

I THINK that American Eskimos are part of the Samoyed family, just like Siberian huskies.  Could be wrong - I often am.  However, our husky has had difficulties blowing her coat too because of bizarre weather conditions here.  They blow their coats twice a year but ours seems to be in a constant state of "shedding".  Same with our Akita who is also related to the Samoyed family.  She looks like an exploded cotton ball.  Even constant grooming doesn't help a lot.  The vet says this is happening a lot this year and is weather related.  She recommended daily brushing and the occasional bath with a good dog shampoo that doesn't dry the skin and a good quality conditioner for their hair.  It does seem to help.

Hi!
I too, have a female American Eskimo dog who is just shy of being 2 years old, and started molting in Aug!  She looks horrible!!!  She had such a beautiful coat at the beginning of the summer, and now its gone!  Patches of hair were literally coming off of her.  I don't remember this happening last year.  I can't remember if they grow a coat for the winter?  It would seem as if they would need to!  I just hate the way she looks right now!  So, you aren't alone in this!
