Bad breath!

My 14 year old mixed poodle has been having some extremely awful breath. She eats just fine and is even more active than my 2 year old Aussie. I've bought doggy tooth paste and doggy Listerine but nothing seems to work. It has honestly become unbearable. She is also not eligible for a dental cleaning.

I would really appreciate any advice I can get!

Hi. Jan is absolutely right. Blood tests are essential. I am also wondering if it could be kidney issues, as bad breath is one of the later symptoms of this disease. It would be helpful if you could catch some urine in a clean container to take with you to the vet. They can then run a urinalysis at the same time as the blood work.

I understand with your little girl's age it would not be
a good idea to do a tooth cleaning,it would pose very
serious risks for her...but it may not be her teeth at her
elder age.
Persistent bad breath can also indicate larger medical
problems in the mouth, respiratory system, gastro-
intestinal tract, or internal organ issues?
Has she had a full CBC blood work up done in the
past 6 months? This would be just a slight needle
stick,no pain and the blood test may show an under-
lying issue?
I think it is time for her to visit your vet and check her
blood? Wish I could help more.
