Best Time to Spay??

I have a 5 lb. 4 month old puppy.  What is the best time to spay her? Is she too little?  Should I wait?

Thanks so much for all your advice.  I will see my vet this week.

The Houston SPCA will spay any pup that is 5 pounds or more regardless of age.  Our Maggie was 3 months old and 10 pounds when she was spayed, and did just fine.  That said, had the decision been up to me I would have felt more comfortable waiting another month or so.  Your vet is certainly the best person to advise you on timing.

Ask your vet.  I have little dogs too and my vet advised 6mo for neutering and 6-9mo for spaying

Now would be the perfect time.  In fact, if you spay her before her first heat cycle, you reduce her chances of developing mammary cancer later in life to zero.
